Torrential Rain in Cebu

Howdy folks. Well it’s Saturday morning and the weather has turned from warm glowing sunshine to torrential rain. Fortunately I was sitting in the restaurant when it started so it’s great to look at. Lets hope it’s not a repeat of the Typhoon.

It’s eased off a little and I’ve just taken a video on my Nokia, so I’m going to upload it now. I have one hour of battery life left on the laptop… so it has one hour to stop raining or I’ll drown on my way to the room.

Bye for now.

Maribago Bluwater Resort

Okay. Back to the one fingered typing again. I have lots to say but my finger gets bored.

I have been meeting Cris and Jack, who are two awesome Datasouth developers based here in Cebu. They’ve been showing us the sights (and getting us drunk) and I am really going to miss them when we get have to leave…. Which reminds me… I need to buy a plane ticket back to Manila.

Yesterday we drove up to the top of a mountain… With a spectacular view over the city. Sadly it was dark so the photos are rubbish.

We also had a massage on the beach yesterday morning and it was sooooo good I needed to go back to sleep.

Anyway. The finger is bored again so it’s off to join it’s friends looking for an offline blogging tool for the laptop.

Bye for now

Robs Blog is out of date!

Okay. Sorry I’ve been a bit bad at updating this but my iPhone keeps hanging when it tries to publish, so I’m using good old fashioned WiFi for the time being.

We’re in Cebu. And I’m going to try to find an offline publishing tool for the laptop as I can only find WiFi in the restaurant.

Meet Vlad

Hello again. I met Vlad yesterday and today. He helped with getting around and seeing the sites. We hired a taxi for the day at 2000 pesos (£25) and visited Intramuro and Mall of Asia.

Short post again but relegated to iPhone as Magda is using the laptop.

Welcom to Manila

Hi Everyone.

We’ve arrived now and love the place. We left from LHR on KLM at 8.40 on 12th November. The first flight was about an hour. We spent three hours at Schipol Airport before boarding the next flight to Manila.

The journey took 12 hours and I’m glad we paid the 70 euro upgrade fee to have seats with a bit more legroom.

We were met at the airport and took a somewhat overpriced ‘airport’ taxi at a cost of 1350 pesos. Apparently the ‘regular’ taxi that they had used to meet me was 260 pesos. But the you can’t complain much at £18 for a 2 hour taxi journey.

The traffic here makes the Middle East driving seem tame. Even with my gung-ho attitude, I don’t think you’d get me behind the wheel of a car. I’ll take some photos later and upload them.

The appartment is great and excellent value too at just under £15 a day! The only disadvantage being that it’s a little bit remote from the attractions but I plan on using it as a base as we travel around.

Still suffering from jetlag and also feeling a bit hungover as we meet some American Internet entrepreneurs last night and got horribly drunk with them. Whoops. They’ve been here a couple of months and are setting up an SEO company here.

Anyway. I’m on my iPhone right now so typing this one finger is getting a but tedious. So I’ll finish with a photo from the appartment balcony.
